Congratulating Praveen Sham on His New Appointment

On behalf of the CWSA, the National Executive Director, Ashley Theron would like to congratulate Praveen Sham on his appointment as a co-chairperson of the Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) in March 2011. Praveen shares this position with Nano Matlala who is also the President of the Black Lawyers Association.


Praveen Sham joined Tongaat Child Welfare in 1967 while he was at University. From 1975 to 1979 he served on the committees of both Tongaat and Stanger Child Welfare Societies and left Tongaat CWSA when he moved to Stanger in 1979.  He became President of Stanger CWSA (now CWSA – Kwa Dukuza) and has occupied that position since.


Praveen was elected as a Councillor of the KwaZulu-Natal Law Society in November, 2004.  He was later elected President of the KZN Law Society two years later. From 2007 he served as a Councillor of the LSSA representing KZN.  In 2008 he became a member of the LSSA’s Manco and has been serving as a member since then.
