Portia Malgas - CWSA National Board Staff Representative

Portia Malgas is one of the two staff representatives on the CWSA National Board. She has a long history working at CWSA, starting as an Area Manager in 1996. She is currently the Provincial Manager of the Free State where she has highlighted the shortage of social workers as one of the biggest challenges.

“Children depend on us, and we will continue to fight for their protection by training more social workers that will be available to help when needed,” says Portia.

She has a wealth of leadership experience in Non-Profit Organisations, having led significant organisational change programmes and worked with the Department of Social Development.

Portia has a deep understanding of issues affecting children and utilises her experience and understanding to support member organisations in her province to deal both with personal and organisational challenges.

“Through the CWSA family I have seen myself grow and been able to change the lives of our children for the better, which is what I am most passionate about,” says Portia.

Portia holds a degree in Social Work from Walter Sisulu University, as well as  Human Resources Management and Business Leadership diplomas from UNISA.
