Organisation Development

This programme assists member organisations, who’s Boards of Management are comprised solely of volunteers, to comply with good governance, meet their corporate and legal obligations, and maintain best practice standards and services for children.

The programme has a proven track record of more than 60 years, and in its absence, CWSA will find it very difficult to render effective services at every level of its infrastructure, particularly in small communities and rural areas where there are few or no resources to approach for assistance

To support Boards of Management in the management of their child welfare organisation, and to add to the capacity of social workers for good practice based on current knowledge, CWSA develops and distributes resources such as - guidelines, manuals, policies, constitutional amendments, children’s legislation and more.

Through the services of our provincial staff, the CWSA provides direct support to member organizations through regular contact and guidance in areas such as:

  • Human resource practice, management and training, fundraising practice, proposal writing and financial sustainability, labor law training, codes of good practice, project management, conflict management, financial planning and management, strategic planning, the role of management boards, NPO training on taxation laws and key practice issues - HIV/AIDS, child abuse, the Children’s Act and more.

Additionally, provincial staff assists members in the raising of funds, creating public awareness and in the development of training programmes for volunteers to assist social workers in the rendering of services.
